Today

The dr. was very happy at my appointment today and I don't have to go back for 2 weeks instead of 1 week like I have been doing lately! I was so happy to hear that, the weekly appointments were getting old, even though they did at least give me a reason to get out of the house once a week. Also, I was told that it's fine to go to my parents for Easter, I expected him to tell me no since previously he had told me that even riding in a car wasn't okay for me, but apparently things have improved so I get a little bit more freedom. I am 32 weeks and 2 days, so 8 or less weeks left to go, this baby is going to be here soon and I sure have a lot left to do to prepare.
After the shower last weekend, when I was showing Chad all the baby items, Kit-Kat claimed 3 pieces of tissue paper for herself. They are thicker pieces and are nice and loud as she walks, lays, pounces, and slides on/under them. She LOVES these pieces and whenever I am picking up things or if I just happen to get too close to them, she will run and lay down on them really quick to keep me from taking them. Today I was picking up some papers that had fallen on the floor and she got worried so she quickly did her best to lay across all the pieces. Last night, I pretended I was going to pick them up and she started slapping every time I got close to her. She is so easily entertained, but I sure wish she would have picked quieter paper to want to keep, we have to turn up the tv because she's so loud sometimes!

Dr. Today

My appointment today went good! My blood pressure was lower than it has been, so apparently no working, laying down, and low salt is actually working, guess the doctor knows what he's talking about after all ;) He wants me to keep doing everything that I have been doing since I have a tendency to have high blood pressure and he doesn't want it spiking up again. I'm still on weekly appointments, at least it gives me somewhere to go every week, I guess.

I had a WONDERFUL shower yesterday with friends and family! It was a great time, getting to see everyone, great food, and this baby is already soooooo spoiled! I really had a great time at the shower and will do a post of pictures from the shower soon. You wouldn't believe all the frog stuff I got, love it!!

Blankets, Bibs, Burp Cloths....

My mom made some blankets, bibs, and burp cloths for the baby. I was in the process of laying them out neatly so I could take pictures, when all of a sudden......Kit-Kat appeared flying out of nowhere, landed on the blankets and slid on the floor. She thought that was tons of fun and kept doing it over again, before finally picking a blanket that she liked and laying down on it. I never did get the good pictures I wanted, but here are some of Kit-Kat having fun :) she even let me put a bib on her! I'll wait until she's asleep later and then take some pictures where you can see the blankets and not just Kit-Kat...unless she decides to take her nap on the blankets which is what it's looking like right now. Just wait until I get out the fleece Astros blanket, she will go nuts, fleece is her favorite material!

Today's appointment

I got the news I was afraid of today, but not what I was really wanting to hear. I'm no longer allowed to work. I need to spend most of my day on my side, alternating between left and right. I can sit straight up for meals. I can take 15 minute walks. NO sodium, need to keep it as close to zero as I possibly can. I had lost some more weight, but he said that's good, it's still water weight coming off and not to worry about that. He said it looks like we have dodged a bullet with pre eclampsia for now, but I need to keep doing what I have been doing. I monitored my blood pressure myself at home and it does get high when I'm up moving around, but luckily it always gets back to a normal range once I am resting. We have found a couple of good recipes for low sodium meals, so I'm not starving as much as I was before, but it's still a very hard diet to follow and there are so many things that I am really missing being able to eat. He said that I need to follow these guidelines until I'm 37 weeks, which is 7 more weeks, at that point if the baby is born then it will be okay. Now to just find things to keep me occupied on the couch for the next 7 weeks.....

Update

Thursday I went to work and after being there a couple of hours, got really sweaty and didn't feel quite right. I went to the nurse to have my blood pressure checked and sure enough it was HIGH. She told me to call my dr and the dr said to go to the hospital to be monitored. By the time I got to the hospital my blood pressure was down a little and after a little over an hour of monitoring and with me laying down, it was down to a normal level. The baby was also monitored during that time and was doing great! The only problem was keeping the monitors on the baby, as our little one does NOT like to be still! The nurse kept laughing and said that I sure had an active one. I was finally released and told to go home, no working, lay on my side, no exercising and to minimize walking, basically get up to go to the bathroom and that is it. I have an appointment on Monday with my ob and we'll see what he says. I have been taking my blood pressure a couple of times a day at home and when I am laying down it's at a normal level, but after I have been up for a short time then it increases. I'll post an update after my appointment on Monday.

Update

My blood pressure is lower today, but still high. I lost 8 pounds following the low sodium diet. I'll get the results of tests in the morning. I'm hoping to be able to work at least the rest of this week, he said he would know more once he had the test results. When I'm not at work, I'm not allowed to do anything other than lay on my side and get up to shower and go to the bathroom, including on the weekends. I'm staying on the low sodium diet, so anyone with tips on that, feel free to let me know! He said he doesn't want me back to normal activity because I have done so well on restrictions and had good results. I'm also already being put on weekly visits. Baby is still doing great and even kicked the nurse while she was following it around trying to get a good reading on the heartbeat :)

Today's appointment

Today my blood pressure was high.....having to follow a low sodium diet for a few days and other than when I am at work, I have to be laying on my side. This is hopefully going to allow my kidneys to get rid of excess salt in my body, the dr. is hoping that I am simply just retaining water. I go back Monday for the dr to check my blood pressure and some lab work. Hopefully things will have improved some. If the blood pressure doesn't go down then I will be looking at being put on bed rest. So other than tomorrow while I'm at work, I will be laying down until Monday morning.....that means no rodeo on Saturday :( Kit-Kat is excited about me having to lay down because her favorite place to nap is on my hip when I am laying on my side. The diet is going to be hard, but hopefully it's only for a few days and I'll do whatever it takes to keep this baby safe.
