Kylie got a kitchen for Christmas!! She loves to cook and always has a bowl (of some sort) and a spoon (or a plastic shovel) close by! She even pours/shakes things into the bowl, stirs it up, and then takes a bite. I'm hoping her food is calorie free because I am always having to take a bite of whatever it is that she is making! I've saved some of my empty spice containers and she loves having the real thing to cook with!

It only took me about 4 hours or so to put it together........

lots of storage room, I haven't given her all of the food that came with it yet, I have the extra stored in the freezer, she's too short to reach that high :)

Kylie discovered a new table...

perfect height and notice she even has her cup close by

this was taken weeks ago~there is no way this would happen now as she will not let us leave anything open~gates, cabinet doors, drawers, dishwasher, etc~ she will yell and point when something is not fully closed, if it's where she can reach it then she will gladly shut it, if not, then we must do it for her. She wants everything in its place. Trust me, you don't realize how often you leave things open, even just barely cracked up during the day until you have someone pointing it out to you constantly!

Kylie is obsessed with clocks. When she sees or hears one she says "clock" and gets all excited! We aren't real sure why she loves them so much, but thought a clock would be a great Christmas present.

Christmas Eve Part 2

During the day on Christmas Eve, we opened gifts with one of my brothers and his family. Then that evening we went to church with my parents. Kylie had slept some on the way to my parents that morning and then a very short nap on the way to church, but nowhere near as long as she usually does. I had my bag of distractions prepared and had already figured out the easiest way to get to the cry room with her and was just hoping that she could make it an hour without being loud. I have to say, she did such a great job! She sat quietly, looked around at everything, talked a little bit, had a cup of milk, and seemed to really enjoy it! I didn't even have to use the bag of distractions, we are so lucky to have such a good baby!!

We had 3 days of Christmas celebrations this year. Kylie is now 19 months old and we thought that she would really enjoy opening presents, but nope....she didn't want any part of unwrapping them. She did enjoy getting the gifts, just wanted someone else to unwrap them for her.

Kylie loves stars and will yell and point whenever she sees one. I think it's because she has a turtle nightlight that projects stars on the ceiling in her room and I would always point to her stars at night. Now we have to tell her stars night-night, blow them kisses, and wave bye-bye to them every single night when I put her to bed. She is really good at finding stars wherever we go. So...when I saw these jammies i just had to get them for her!

Kylie absolutely loves puzzles and is really good at them!

don't be fooled by the mean faces she is making, for some reason she was just doing that while I was taking pictures

Kylie can also identify a lot of the animals in her different puzzles and knows a few of the animal sounds. She is growing up way too fast!!

One of Kylie's favorite things to eat is a banana. When we go to the grocery store, she gets so excited to see the bananas there and begs and begs for some. I figure there are plenty of worse things she could be begging for and I am more than happy to buy her bananas. It's one of her favorite snacks and something I know she will eat even on those days that she is refusing pretty much everything else.

Kylie loves Baby First TV and I know a few of the shows have actually taught her things, bad news for her is that DirecTV is making it a free channel, but in order to get it as a free channel, you have to have a more expensive package~at least $10 more a month and updated equipment (makes no sense to me and we are not happy with DirecTV at all!)....and we don't get the option to keep paying the extra $3 or $4 /month we pay now :( I think she is really going to miss her friends on there.

I have so much catching up to do on here (including several Christmas posts)

Check out Kylie's hair :) Her hair is getting really thick and she has a lot of it now. On each side she has pieces that curl and we call those her horns ;) the back has a few curls also. It still amazes me just how crazy her hair gets now that it's getting a little bit longer. When it's humid outside, her hair is so frizzy and wild!

poor girl, always seems to have at least one mosquito bite, they are so attracted to her, guess the mosquitoes realize just how sweet she is!

Kylie LOVES Kit-Kat and tries to pet her every chance she gets! Kit-Kat has really come around, but I still wouldn't call them friends....

Last week, Kylie reached up to pet Kit-Kat and Kit-Kat slapped her hand (no claws, just one quick slap). Poor Kylie, she had the biggest frown ever on her face and it just kept getting bigger and bigger and then she broke out in loud crying. She buried her head in her daddy's chest and he hugged and comforted her, then she ran to me for some more love. It was so sad and so funny all at the same time. Kit-Kat didn't scratch her, just slapped her hand, but it broke Kylie's heart. She was devastated that Kit-Kat would do that to her. I'm hoping that it will help her learn to leave Kit-Kat alone when she doesn't want to be bothered...

She was puckered up to give Kit-Kat a kiss :)

Chad went against everything he believes in and gave me an early Christmas present! I have been wanting a swing for our backyard for a long time now, but couldn't find one in the stores that I liked. He found someone in the area that makes them and had one made for me for Christmas!

Santa!!!

This past Saturday, we decided to take Kylie to the mall to see Santa. I knew it was going to be busy, we went early, before Santa was even there. The line was already unbelievable and would have easily been a couple of hours at least before we even were able to see him. We left, planning to come back the next day and try again.

Decided I might as well take some pictures of her since she was already dressed!

Once we got home I decided to look online for other places where Santa was in the area. I saw that Old Town Spring had one, I assumed that it would probably be a long line also, but we decided to go and if it was a long line, we could still have lunch. Believe it or not, there were only a few people in line (and the prices were sooooo much cheaper than the mall).

The line was outside, then you went inside for a picture with Santa, Mrs. Claus took the picture. Kylie did a lot better than we expected with Santa. When Santa asked her what she wanted for Christmas she held her hands up for "I don't know" it was so funny, and perfect timing! She was nervous and wouldn't smile, but she didn't cry and that's what mattered the most! We really liked Santa and Mrs. Claus and plan on going back there again next year.

Kylie puts everything with a strap on her arm and carries it around like a purse. I always love looking in her purse to see what she has in there. I have found her hairbrush, a large spoon, spatula, stuffed cat, shoes, crayons...all kinds of important things!

Like any good mom, I googled allergy to bbq sauce and ranch dressing and found some interesting things....both have fish products so it could possibly be a sort of seafood allergy, it could be from MSG, preservatives, or a million other things. I am going to make my own ranch and make my own BBQ sauce and see if she's able to eat those without a reaction. She's running out of things to dip nuggets in!

Last year, I dressed Kylie up, sat her in front of the Christmas tree and she stayed in one place while I took pictures for our Christmas card. For some reason, I thought it was going to be that easy again this year. I dressed her up, put her in front of the tree and off she ran, over and over again! I finally sat her on a chair next to the tree and luckily she stayed put for some pictures!

So far, Kylie hasn't messed with the Christmas tree so much, though it does help that it's blocked off by a gate the majority of the time. She has taken some of the "balls" off to play with, but that's about it.

I wasn't real sure how much I was going to be able to decorate for Christmas this year with a toddler in the house. I knew that several places I usually decorated were going to be off limits, but I figured I would just do the best that I could. As with everything else that I do, I had a helper decorating.

Kylie got to go to a police graduation and she did a great job sitting thru it! I had a bag full of distractions~crayons, books, snacks, milk, magna doodle~ and didn't have much hope that I would be able to watch the whole graduation, but she made it! She did a lot of walking back and forth between mommy and daddy, but she was soooo good, we were really proud of her!

Kylie's learning early that every special occasion calls for a pretty, new outfit!

Kylie has been fighting me on bows and headbands for a while now, one day at Target, I put a regular headband on her and she left it on for a long time. I decided to go ahead and buy it just to try it out. I'm sure glad I did because she will leave it on and I can clip most of her bows to a headband!

Kylie loves to cook! She stirs and stirs and then always gives us bites of whatever she has made. She will either say "some" or "bite" as she is shoving the spoon or spatula in your mouth and then she smiles so big when you tell her how good it is! One of my favorites is when she gets her phone and puts it right next to her as she's cooking, I know she's copying what she sees me do.

Kylie is doing really good eating with a spoon and wants to try to eat everything with a spoon, the other day she was even trying to eat a roll with the spoon.

she gets the food on her spoon and gets it to her mouth pretty good, but then she turns the spoon upside down to dump it into her mouth and that's where the mess begins!

18 Months

A little late, having trouble keeping caught up lately.....Kylie is now a year and a half old! She is getting smarter and smarter by the day :)

She says a lot of words, some are really clear and others you have to figure out what she's saying. Kylie loves clocks, stars, cars, and balls and gets excited anytime she sees or hears one and will tell you what it is! The last 2 times we have gone to Target she gets really excited and hollers "ba" while pointing at the big red concrete "balls" outside the store. One time she was on the verge of pitching a fit because she was wanting to play with the "ball" and we weren't letting her. Last night, we were at a graduation and she noticed a clock high up on the wall pretty quickly and kept telling us clock and pointing at it.

Kylie still loves animals. Kit-Kat being her favorite. I can tell her to say hi to Kit-Kat and she will wave and say "Hi", often when we leave she will also wave and say "Bye Cat". Kit-Kat is still tolerating her pretty well.

Kylie is doing really well eating with a spoon, she makes a mess, but she's able to do it and that's all that matters! She still will try anything and likes most things that we eat. The only time she gets something different is if it's something I think she will have trouble chewing or if it's really spicy.

Kylie loves to be outside.

Kylie is able to point out several things in books and still loves to read books, magazines, junk mail...pretty much anything.

Kylie LOVES to write/color and is even happy with a pen that has the cap on it, she will just sit and pretend to write. I bought her a small stocking stuffer sized magna doodle this week and she is in love with it! We will have to get a real one at some point for her.

When she goes to sleep, either for a nap or at night, she has to have her star nightlight on and will keep saying "star" until I turn it on. At nap time, I always have to explain to her that she can't see the stars because it's not dark enough, but I still have to turn it on and show her that it is at least on.

Kylie loves to read books. Right now her favorite is to point at cars and tell us "car" anytime she sees one in a book, on tv, or hears one outside. She is obsessed with cars right now! She will also point out animals in books and on tv...mainly cats, puppies, horses, and cows. She can meow like a cat and moo like a cow! Some of her favorite commercials are for cat food, kitty litter, and Puss In Boots.

17 Months!

My baby girl is just getting bigger and bigger :) 17 months old now!

I don't really know where to even start with information about her.....
~she still loves books and is able to point out things in books when we ask her...apple, kitty, puppy
~she gets very excited when she sees an animal on tv or in person
~she still sleeps with one of my nightgowns and now also sleeps with 2 of my pillowcases, along with an assortment of blankets and stuffed animals
~she loves stuffed animals, clothes, and shoes
~she loves brushing her hair and her hair is getting really thick, it's not growing longer, but seems to get thicker and thicker every day! She is also getting some curls, can't wait to see if she actually ends up with curly hair

There is so much more, but I never can remember when it comes time to do these posts.

Here are some pictures I took of her wearing a shawl that my great aunt made for me when I was little. Kylie absolutely loved it and kept it on until it was time to eat and then we had to take it off of her.

I've even been organizing my kitchen and craft supplies based on ideas from this site, maybe some day I will get brave enough to put those pictures on here! I also have so many fun ideas for things to make for Kylie and how to decorate her big girl room! Pinterest is very addicting!

I had the onesie in the dye and then decided that I might as well dye some leggings and socks also to match :) In this picture, the face isn't finished yet, it's puff paint and I hadn't "puffed" it yet. After Halloween, I am going to dye the leggings a darker orange to wear with her Thanksgiving shirt (also found the idea on pinterest) and she can also wear them under dresses/tops.

I am loving making things for Kylie to wear!

16 Months (A Week Late)

Kylie is now 16 months old and the most exciting thing that has happened is that she is finally walking!!!! You can view that video here. She is still crawling most of the time, but she is walking so much now and is getting pretty fast at it also! It won't be too long until she is walking all the time!

Kylie's hair is getting so thick, not really getting longer, but she has so much of it now! It's light and doesn't show up well in pictures.

Kylie loves giving kisses and has started wrapping her arms around my neck to give hugs! Whenever someone gets up from their seat, she walks/crawls as fast as she can to where they were sitting so that she still their seat. She has been doing this for several months now, it is so cute and she giggles so loud while she's doing it. Kylie could get away with a lot more if she didn't always start giggling and give herself away when she's doing something she shouldn't be!

Kylie is a climber.

She LOVES clothes and will become obsessed and carry clothes around with her all day long, as I'm typing this she has a dress and 2 diaper covers in her hand as she's walking around playing with toys.

Kylie is picking up some more words and can usually get her point across if she needs something. Kylie is still a good eater, most of the time. She does get picky at times and some days it doesn't seem like she eats anything at all, but for the most part she eats really good! Kylie LOVES taking a bath and will play in there long after the water has gotten cold.

She was helping me fold clothes, she pulls out her daddy's socks and dryer sheets and hands them to me. She then decided she wanted to put one of her daddy's socks on and then she wanted one of her socks on top of the one she was already wearing!

Chicken Pox Shot

At Kylie's 15 month appointment she got the chicken pox shot....I was told that it could cause a rash up to 4 weeks after getting it, fever, etc. For a couple days after the shot she had red spots where she got it, but they were tiny. Then about a week later, there was a really big red spot and it seemed to just keep getting bigger and bigger. She also ran a low fever for a few days, didn't sleep well at all, and was just an overall grouchy baby :(

what our last week or two has been like

I blame all of that on the dumb shot. I was so afraid that she would end up getting chicken pox from the shot. It's now been 2 weeks since the initial shot and things seem to be better, you can still see where she got it, but she hasn't been running fever.

As for sleeping.......well, we have had some horrible nights and some good nights lately so I'm not sure what's going on with that.

She is cutting a molar and I know that could be part of the problem with her sleeping. Some nights she wakes up screaming and nothing I do can calm her down, it can last 30 minutes to an hour, then as suddenly as it started, she stops crying, drinks something, and then goes back to sleep. Sometimes she will then sleep the rest of the night without any problems, other times we will have a repeat of it all a few hours later. It's been really tough on us around here. I can't wait until this molar breaks all the way thru and hopefully we will have a little relief before the next one comes in. I've had to start taking naps with her in the afternoon because I am so exhausted from the lack of sleep at night.

We give up trying to figure her out!

Apparently, we are not allowed to go out the backdoor without Kylie and if we do then she will pitch a fit until we come in or she gets to go out....
